Lecture by Laura Fontana from Mémorial de la Shoah, at the Instituto Italiano Cultura in Amsterdam, 27 January 2017

On the occassion of Holocaust Memorial Day, Laura Fontana will give a lecture at the Instituto Italiano Cultura in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Laura Fontana is the Head of the Italian Department of EHRI partner Mémorial de la Shoah since 2009. Since 2013, she has been the Scientific Coordinator of the Mémorial de la Shoah for EHRI, coordinated by NIOD Amsterdam.

The Holocaust Educational Foundation of Northwestern University (HEF of NU) is pleased to invite applications for fellowships to participate in the 22nd annual Summer Institute on the Holocaust and Jewish Civilization from 18-30 June 2017 at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. The renowned program is an intensive two-week course of study designed to broaden and deepen the background of current and prospective Holocaust educators.

Call for Applications for GEOP Fellowships at POLIN Museum 2017-2018

POLIN Museum’s Global Educational Outreach Program, supported by the William K. Bowes Jr Foundation and the Taube Foundation for Jewish Life and Culture, is offering up to six doctoral and post-doctoral fellowships for from three to five consecutive months in residence at POLIN Museum and EHRI partner, the Jewish Historical Institute (ŻIH). The fellowship stipend is $2,000 per month (payable in Polish zlotys).

New directors DARIAH

Two New Directors for DARIAH: General Assembly Appoints Jennifer Edmond and Frank Fischer

Jennifer Edmond and Frank Fischer will succeed Conny Kristel and Tobias Blanke as DARIAH Directors. In its latest meeting the consortium's General Assembly (GA) approved the nomination proposed by a selection committee earlier this month. The Chair of the GA, Jacques Dubucs, who was also part of the committee, described the selection process as inspiring and said, "we had many applications, and they were all ranging from very good to outstanding. Finally two exceptionally good candidates were picked", Jacques concluded.

EHRI Presentation on Dutch Networking Day: Sources Without Borders

On 17 November EHRI presented itself on the Networking Day of the Dutch Netwerk Oorlogsbronnen (Network on War Sources, NOB) in Amsterdam. EHRI’s project director Conny Kristel, Veerle Vanden Daelen (responsible for investigation and identification of archives) and Annelies van Nispen (users and standards) talked for an hour to an audience of almost 100 people about various aspects of the EHRI project. The focus of the presentation was on the international collaboration that is central to EHRI.
