Try U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum’s test API for online Holocaust Encyclopedia

Thursday, 25 October, 2018

The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum will release a prototype API for its online Holocaust Encyclopedia starting this fall. The encyclopedia—an authoritative reference tool for students, teachers, and the general public—includes over 850 articles plus photographs, maps, film footage, and interviews, with articles available in over a dozen languages.  The USHMM introduced a newly updated version of the resource this summer based on extensive audience research and testing.

Organisations working with Holocaust documentation, collections or information can try the API with their own research and access projects, provide feedback on their experience, and help shape the tool to best suit their own institutional needs. Based on feedback during this testing phase, the USHMM will continue to develop the API to be as supportive of possible of Holocaust education and research institutions.

To learn more or request API access, please contact skaiser@ushmm.org and tell us how an API could be useful in any current or possible future work. We solicit your input on shaping the API and look forward to hearing your ideas.
