Leah Sidebotham is part of the Engagement Team at The Wiener Library for the Study of the Holocaust and Genocide in London. She has been in charge of EHRI's Facebook and Twitter pages in Work Package 2 on Communication and will later this year start as Digital Asset Manager as part of the more technical Work Packages 10 and 13.

I joined the Library in January 2016, initially in the role of Visitor Services Assistant and Volunteer Coordinator. Although I didn’t have experience of studying the Holocaust or the Second World War during my degree, I did have a lot of volunteering experience with a wide variety of NGOs and heritage organisations which meant the role suited me perfectly.

I became part of EHRI WP2 in June 2017 when I moved into a new role as Social Media and Marketing Officer. As part of this role I maintain The Wiener Library’s presence across Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube, as well as coordinating press releases for upcoming exhibitions and responding to queries from journalists. As part of the Work Package on Communication, I along with Petra Drenth and Elske Rotteveel at NIOD, am in charge of the EHRI project’s Facebook and Twitter pages. As the only native English speaker within the work package I also spend a lot of time proofreading articles for the newsletter and website!

Later this year I will be moving into another role at The Wiener Library, becoming Digital Asset Manager. In this role I will be managing the Library’s digitisation workflows and supporting the wider Collections team in offering guidance for digital donations and born-digital collections. As a result of this change I will also be moving from the communication team to take on projects as part of Work Packages 10 and 13 on integration and infrastructures.

Other than work I’m kept busy by my part-time course at fellow EHRI partners King’s College London where I am studying for a masters in Digital Asset and Media Management. I studied History for my undergraduate degree so focusing my attention on something more technical has been more challenging than I anticipated. Needless to say, I don’t have much free time however when I do I enjoy visiting other museums and galleries in the capital. I love music and during the summer volunteer with Oxfam at various different music festivals in the UK.
