We are very pleased to announce that EHRI will be welcoming 2013 with a brand new website. Now that the project is halfway through, we thought the website needed a more informative and attractive design that was better suited to the current content. The website address and login codes for the Community Hub will stay the same and you will still be able to find all the present information, news and profiles alongside the new features.

In the two years since the project started, EHRI has evolved from a mere project description into a lively community. Four expert meetings have taken place, twelve fellows have carried out research at an EHRI partner institution, and we are building up to two summer schools in Holocaust Studies and an online course. We now issue regular newsletters, and have made good progress with our Community Hub. In the coming months, 42 concise national reports with an overview of the history and archival situation in each country will be published on the website, and later in the New Year a research guide about the Terezín ghetto will be added. Out of sight of the public a team of EHRI specialists is working on the creation of a portal and Virtual Research Environment that will give online access to dispersed Holocaust-related resources, as well as tools to work with this material. EHRI now has 700 test records in a database that contains harvested archival collection descriptions about the Holocaust and the first contours of the portal are visible.

All this and more needs a place on the EHRI website. The new website will provide this space and give an improved overview of everything that is on offer. It will be able to draw the visitor’s attention to what is new and important, and encourage individuals and organisations to become actively involved with our work.

Until the launch of the new site, the current EHRI website will continue to provide you with all the relevant news and information. We look forward to welcoming you to the new site, and please don’t hesitate to give us your feedback.

With best wishes for the New Year.
