Nathan Kurz is now a Ph.D. Candidate in Modern Jewish history at Yale University. He received a Master's Degree in history from Yale and a Bachelor's Degree from Stanford University. He has earned many fellowships in the USA and from Haifa University. During his fellowship at the Mémorial de la Shoah, he will be conducting research for his dissertation project, '"A Sphere Above the Nations?" Human Rights and the Limits of Jewish Transnational Politics,1945-1975'.

During his tenure at the Shoah Memorial, Mr. Kurz will be exploring the engagement of French Jewish organizations with post-World War II human rights ideas and concepts. In particular, he will make use of the records of Le Conseil Représentatif des Institutions Juives de France (CRIF) and La Fédération des Sociétés Juives de France (FSJF). He will also draw from records of the Ministère des Affaires Étrangères, the Alliance Israélite Universelle, and the Archives Nationales, among others, and will be incorporating additional material from the United States, Britain, and Switzerland.
