Her doctoral research aims to consider the persecution of European Jews through quantitative (prosopography and lexicometry) and qualitative analyses of testimonies. The main hypothesis investigates how and whether, beyond the irreducible uncertainties that arise in such extreme situations, the socio-cultural background from before deportation could influence the way the individual behaves in the Nazi concentration and extermination camps.

Formerly, Bieke Van Camp received a Master’s Degree in History (Traces: Histoire et Sciences Sociales) as well as a Master’s Degree in Italian studies from the Université Paul-Valéry, Montpellier, France.
