Alicja Jarkowska

Alicja Jarkowska, Ph.D. – a historian working at the Institute of History of the Jagiellonian University, co-editor of two volumes of the Ringelblum Archive. The Underground Archive of the Warsaw Ghetto, the author of the monograph Wymuszona współpraca czy zdrada? Wokół kolaboracji Żydów w okupowanym Krakowie (Forced Cooperation or Treason? On Jewish Collaboration in Occupied Krakow, 2018) as well as of articles dealing with such topics as the Holocaust, collaboration, common crime during WW II. She was the 2019 winner of the first prize in the Prof. T. Strzembosz Competition for the best book on recent Polish history: a finalist of the POLITYKA 2019 Academic Awards. She has likewise been a scholarship holder of the Claims Conference, Fondation pour la Mémoire de la Shoah, the National Science Center, completed a Postdoctoral Internship at Yad Vashem. A member of the Commission on the History and Culture of Jews of the Polish Academy of Science, the Society of the Enthusiasts of the History and Monuments of Krakow, the Polish Association for Jewish Studies, and EAJS. She is an associate of the Center for the Study on the History and Culture of Krakow Jews as well as the project leader of several research undertakings dealing with the history of Krakow Jews in the Generalgouvernement.
