New EHRI Blog: Card File of the Jewish Population in the Protectorate Bohemia and Moravia

Thursday, September 28th, 2017

The latest EHRI Document Blog contribution by Daniela Bartáková, who works for the Jewish Museum in Prague, focuses on the remnants of the registration card file from the territory of the Protectorate Bohemia and Moravia. This protectorate was established by Nazi Germany following the occupation of Czechoslovakia.

Daniela Bartáková describes the creation, development and bureaucracy involved in the registration process and the information gathered.

The post also shows how little we know about the card files and how they were processed, but stand as an example of the modern methods and use of automaton technology by the Nazi authorities to persecute Jews.
